Sanctuary Information

National Chambal Sanctuary

A pristine riverine ecosystem sheltering rare aquatic species and migratory birds

Chambal Safari Location

Chambal Safari is conducted in the serene stretch of the National Chambal Sanctuary, a riverine wildlife zone spread across parts of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. One of the most accessible entry points is near Palighat or Jarar village in Uttar Pradesh's Etawah district.

The safari typically involves a peaceful boat ride along the Chambal River, offering glimpses of crystal-clear water and untouched natural surroundings. The region shelters several rare species, including the critically endangered gharial, Gangetic river dolphin, Indian skimmer, and numerous native and migratory birds. This wildlife haven is located approximately 80 km from Agra.

Chambal Safari Timing

Chambal Safari is available during daylight hours, with most boat rides operating between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Timings may differ slightly based on the season and organizing team, but multiple slots are offered throughout the day.

Early morning (7:00–9:00 AM) and late afternoon (3:30–5:00 PM) are considered the best times for wildlife spotting and photography, thanks to increased animal activity and softer lighting. While the sanctuary is generally accessible from 5:00 AM to 7:00 PM, boat safaris are limited to safe hours to ensure a comfortable and eco-friendly experience.
